Frequently Asked Questions

Dermosonic® Ultrasound for Cellulite Reduction

What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is the dimpled appearance of the skin mainly seen around the thighs, buttocks and abdomen mostly where fat deposits are found in close proximity to the skin. Skin is connected to underlying muscle by VERTICAL strands of tissue. This connective tissue looses it’s elasticity as we age and the enlarged fat cells in the subcutaneous layer pushes upward creating the dimpled appearance. Circulation may be impaired as a result. Cellulite occurs in about 80% of the adult female population.

There are many causes of cellulite including diet, lack of exercise, genetic predisposition and inevitable lifetime hormonal changes. Weight loss and exercise does not necessarily improve the appearance of cellulite and even slender people have cellulite.

How does this process work?
The Dermosonic® method is done in a two stage process. The first stage uses ultrasonic waves to penetrate beneath the skin creating fibrosis breakage, stimulating blood circulation and literally softening fat deposits. This first stage greatly enhances the second stage of the Dermosonic® method which uses vibratory and suction techniques – negative upward pressure - which enhances the dispersion of fat deposits, elongation of connective tissue and the promotion of lymphatic drainage. This treatment takes about 90 minutes and many clients experience visible results after only one treatment. Studies have shown marked improvement in measurements taken after a series of treatments.

Does the treatment hurt?
No. Dermosonic® does not pinch, roll or bruise the skin so the process feels good, much like a massage.

How often will I need to do this treatment?
Depending on the degree of cellulite, 1 – 12 sessions may be needed. Simple Radiance offers package pricing and free consultations to help determine a treatment course for each person’s specific needs.

Can cellulite be cured?
This is no cure for cellulite. Liposuction suctions out the deeper layers of fat but does not affect the subcutaneous fat layer where the cellulite is. The Dermosonic® method best targets this subcutaneous layer by breaking down the fibrosis connective tissue, dispersing fat tissue and promoting lymphatic drainage, creating a firmer, smoother and more toned look to the skin.

"I have suffered with leg pain from Fibromyalgia as well as Restless Leg Syndrome. The Dermosonic has given significant relief of both. I had 7 out of 10 leg pain (10 being the most) and right after the treatments, I remember saying I had NO leg pain. It has been two months and I have continued to have significant reduction of at least 50% with both problems." - JRD
